On November 15, 2020, Change the End hosted their first event: a beach cleanup at Cowell Beach, allegedly one of the most polluted beaches in Santa Cruz, California. When the team arrived, they were surprised to find a well-maintained, clean beach, with very little trash at first glance. Nevertheless, armed with their eco-friendly gloves and trash bags, they got to work, and in two hours, to their own astonishment, they managed to collect several bags of trash. With the proof that genuinely alarming amounts of garbage pollution lie everywhere, even where unexpected, Change the End has resolved to use their even further strengthened motivation to pursue their goal and host many cleanups (at even more polluted locations, such as local creeks), gardening days, and more in the future.
